Richard was raised on property near a little town called Thangool in central Queensland where he started running his first business in agriculture in his early teens growing small crops and baling left over sorghum and bean stubble (using equipment hired from his parents) to sell to the local cattle producers. Upon leaving school, he worked as a dozer operator at the ripe age of 15 before gaining employment on various beef and grain properties from central to north Queensland.

At the age of 19, he embarked on a career of farriery. During his career as a farrier, he competed and judged in contests around the world and has been one of the only Australians to compete in the finals at the World Championship Blacksmiths Contest held at the Calgary Stampede. He also held the position of President of the Queensland branch and the National body of the Australian Farriers and Blacksmiths Association. During his career as a farrier, his practical and speaking skills had been recognised and he has been an invited speaker at conferences held in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa where he has delivered presentations on Laminitis (a crippling disease of the hoof) and entertaining speeches on the subject of Veterinarian/FarrierClient relationships.

Richard continued to develop his speaking skills through a Toastmaster’s club where he discovered a gift of being able to deliver speeches in a humorous and entertaining way. After winning his first humorous speaking contest at club level he then took the speech to district level which encompasses all of Queensland, Northern New South Wales, Northern Territory and Papua New Guinea. He was awarded first place at the District convention held in Cairns, Queensland, Australia.

After being described as “one of the most marketable speakers they have seen” he then followed a lifelong dream to embark on a career as a professional public speaker/presenter. He quickly discovered his skill and enjoyment for the role of emceeing conferences and events. Richard has officiated as Master of Ceremonies (MC, Emcee) and compére at numerous business/industry conferences, networking events, fundraising galas, show balls and community events. He has even compéred the local Billy Cart and Wheelbarrow race.

Through his company Impact Presentations, he is also passionate about helping others to develop, design and deliver presentations that are memorable and fulfil the desired purpose.

Richard now is based near Noosa on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland, Australia.
